Great statistical comparisons. It seems like DocStoc is a more appropriate comparison to Scribd.
Although, I imagine DocStoc use only spiked in December.

So let me get this straight: you pay for typepad, yet give them free branding by using their favicon? Mighty generous of you.

Dan
Great question. Three come to mind right away but first lets understand WHY Google is the gorilla. Quite simply it's trust. Google is constantly as the go-to resource for answers, having said that other sectors of web surfers are looking for answers in other places as well. Wikipedia http://wikipedia.org is increasingly becoming more and more trusted. Digg http://digg.com also gets a nod. Technorati http://technorati.com the google of blogs has gotten so much attention that they are now being taken on by Google themselves with their blog search http://blogsearch.google.com/
Compete gives us a breakdown on the above non-google sites here

Thanks for this simple yet comprehensive assessment of leaders and also-rans in the various categories. Are there emerging SEARCH sites that we should be aware of (understanding that Google is the gorilla in terms of general search, but are there segments in which others are leading)?
