Yahoo Changes Minimum Bids

April 24, 2008 by Jason McElweenie

Yahoo! recently made an update to their sponsored search advertising.

The minimum bids are no longer fixed at $.10. Your minimum bids are now based on a number of things such as the quality of your ads and the value of the keywords. So, it can be higher or lower than $.10.

Why are they doing this?  The ultimate goal of any search engine is to bring the end user the most relevant search results and that includes ads.

If you’re a current advertiser, you’ll be receiving email notices in your inbox giving you a heads up.

You’ll also be able to see this in your Alert box when logged in to your account.

Yahoo Alert

Keywords that are below the minimum bid will be inactive until you make the changes.

For more information on this change, please see Yahoo’s official post.
